Hypothyroidisn And Other Health Articles
December 29, 2007 10:24 am HealthHypothyroidism is something I don’t think a lot of people are aware of. It used to be the joking excuse people would use when they’d talk about overweight people who said they had a medical problem. The thing is, the overweight people who said this were right, and it is only in recent years that people’s prejudices have been overturned at a populist level. The new understanding of metabolic syndrome probably had a lot to do with that.
The fact is, many people who were slim most of their lives do start to gain weight after going on medication for an unrelated problem, having surgery, aging, metabolic syndrome, hypothyroidism, and even after getting ill with a virus. It’s nothing but prejudice to blame overweight people for eating too much. As a slim person, I often eat more than my overweight friends, so I can testify that theory - overeating - should be taken with a grain of salt.
Whilst it may be true in some cases, there is a lot more to weight gain than how much you eat, and even the types of food you eat. That’s why I really enjoyed reading Knut Holt’s article on hypothyroidism. His health articles at Article Health And Fitness, are full of great, honest information on a range of topics that I think it’s a good idea for people to learn more about, for their own understanding of their bodies and health.
