Suicide and Chantix Lawsuits

The new stop smoking drug Chantix, however, takes a unique approach to the problem of nicotine addiction. It does what the nicotine gum and patches do, without their nicotine. It stimulates the brain to release small doses of dopamine, which helps with symptoms of nicotine withdrawal; and blocks nicotine receptors in the brain, removing the desire to smoke and the pleasure derived from it. The theory behind the new stop smoking drug is that if the fun of cigarette smoking is gone, you will stop. Chantix lawsuits have been filed, though, over some people committing suicide as a result of using the drug.
